Summer Lovin’

I know – it’s December. What am I thinking? Summer? no. Obviously not. It’s cold outside – even in these here foothills in North Georgia. It’s chilly. I’ve worn sweaters all week (not that I’m complaining – I love a good cable knit).

But the truth is, I’ve got summertime on my mind – from the first taste of those ripe watermelons to freshly picked peanuts on the stove to boil with WAY more salt than any one person should ever consume at a given time. Well, those things are all well and good, but this summer is going to look a little different for me for several reasons. I’ll list them (you know how I love lists) in no particular order:

1. I’m living in a real house.. so I can do all sorts of fun decorative things and go to Little River Canyon all I want in my very own chacos just because.. well, because.

2. I *may* be spending some time helping out my friend Drew as he attempts (and will absolutely do it) to break the speed record on the Appalachian Trail. For more on his story see this blog post and this Facebook page.

3. (and this is the kicker) I’M GOING TO THE PHILIPPINES FOR A WEEK. You read it right – the Philippines. Because of the damage from the typhoon in November, AIM (the organization that puts together World Race trips) will be taking several folks to the Philippines for one week (June 15-22) to aid in relief efforts at that time. Even though this trip is seven months removed from the actual storm, these people will still be in desperate need of help. I need two things from you guys: TONS of prayer. That comes first and foremost, not because I don’t want to talk finances, but because God is sovereign and over all. His leadership and the covering of the Spirit as we prepare for this trip and even while we’re there is CRUCIAL. Without Him, we can do nothing. Second of all, I will need financial support. Plane tickets to the Philippines are slightly outrageous – I mean, it’s the other side of the world. So, right now, the total cost of my trip will be roughly $3,500. Please prayerfully consider giving (even if it’s delta skymiles…because those are SO GREAT). You all have supported me SO much in the last 18 months. It has been incredible to see God move through you and in you and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us!
