My goal for several years has been to read 50 books in one calendar year – 52 weeks – but I have always fallen off the rails around 25 books. This year, I’m twice as determined. I will be posting short reviews of each book with my thoughts and any recommendations I received for the book as well as a link to purchase the book from Amazon, (though I recommend checking your local library first). If you have questions, leave a comment! If you want to follow my journey, find me on Goodreads.
I picked up Deep Dish by Mary Kay Andrews at Goodwill late last year. I read Ladies’ Night by MKA and immediately received rave recommendations for the rest of her novels from several people, most notably my friend Katie. Deep Dish did not disappoint. It is filled with little Georgia nuances that made the novel fun for me, a Georgia girl born & bred. The plot revolves around two television cooking show hosts (very Food Network style) who compete Bear Grylls style (okay, maybe not that intense) in South Georgia for a new prime spot on a national channel. It’s campy, cute, and even has Paula Deen’s stamp of approval right on the front cover. I enjoy breaking up the deep serious literature with some light-hearted novels and MKA is my go-to author for something simple and fun.
