Book Nine

My goal for several years has been to read 50 books in one calendar year – 52 weeks – but I have always fallen off the rails around 25 books. This year, I’m twice as determined. I will be posting short reviews of each book with my thoughts and any recommendations I received for the book as well as a link to purchase the book from Amazon, (though I recommend checking your local library first). If you have questions, leave a comment! If you want to follow my journey, find me on Goodreads.

I’ve read the Harry Potter series once before, but started rereading the series in 2017. This book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is the sixth installment of the series, took me quite a bit longer this time than when I first read it. Rowling includes much more backstory on Harry’s father during his time at Hogwarts and on Voldemort’s history. Of course, in reading this for the second time I picked up on many nuances and details I’d missed the first time, making it all that more intriguing. However, I read slow, perhaps because I knew what the last few chapters would hold. The emotions are no less jarring the second time around. This is an incredible series for all ages.
