Book Thirty-Six

My goal for several years has been to read 50 books in one calendar year – 52 weeks – but I have always fallen off the rails around 25 books. This year, I’m twice as determined. I will be posting short reviews of each book with my thoughts and any recommendations I received for the book as well as a link to purchase the book from Amazon, (though I recommend checking your local library first). If you have questions, leave a comment! If you want to follow my journey, find me on Goodreads.

Harry Potter take two was just as good as round one. Book seven in particular is always terribly striking to me. As the series culminates I remember the naivete of the characters (and myself) in book one in comparison to their growth here. Professor McGonagall’s bravery and truth stick out the most to me here.

I’m forever a fan of this series and the world Rowling created. The values written into its characters and stories are inspiring. She’s created a community out of strangers. We, the ones who’ve grown up with wizards and muggles, meet people and ask if they’ve been sorted. Just yesterday a friend and I discussed how disappointed we were to have missed the class on apparating because it would make visiting each other so much easier. We measure people based on their commitment to the wizarding world and we’re not mad about it.
