Book Forty-Four

My goal for several years has been to read 50 books in one calendar year – 52 weeks – but I have always fallen off the rails around 25 books. This year, I’m twice as determined. I will be posting short reviews of each book with my thoughts and any recommendations I received for the book as well as a link to purchase the book from Amazon, (though I recommend checking your local library first). If you have questions, leave a comment! If you want to follow my journey, find me on Goodreads.

This was a most thoughtful birthday gift from Diana. I’m such a fan of these books written in places I have visited, especially New England with its rich history. Chiaverini follows Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in the years leading up to the composition of his famous Christmas poem. This plot is juxtaposed with a more modern-day plot also set in Boston at Christmas time, telling the story of a group of people surrounding a Christmas program at St. Margaret’s in Boston.

The flashbacks to HWL were sometimes a little slow, but I learned so much about this famous author that I didn’t know before. New England is literary heaven. This is such a fun read and a great way to usher in this holiday season!
