My goal for several years has been to read 50 books in one calendar year – 52 weeks – but I have always fallen off the rails around 25 books. This year, I’m twice as determined. I will be posting short reviews of each book with my thoughts and any recommendations I received for the book as well as a link to purchase the book from Amazon, (though I recommend checking your local library first). If you have questions, leave a comment! If you want to follow my journey, find me on Goodreads.
First of all: WE DID IT, FOLKS! Fifty whole books in a year! I have been trying this for years and finally, finally, did it. I couldn’t have done it without your recommendations and mailed books.
This is the final (published) installment of the Outlander series. I started book one in MARCH. I can’t believe I somehow managed to read them all in one year (though Donna says that reading the last half via audiobook “doesn’t count as actually reading because you didn’t turn the page”). I am so deeply invested in these people and their stories. I cried several times in this ones, moved by the deaths of beloved characters and the great big holes they left behind. Rumor has it Diana Gabaldon is in the throes of writing the ninth book – Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. Knowing that, I was hyper aware of any instance in the eighth novel that mentioned bees, wondering if they foreshadowed any plot points or experiences to come. Gabaldon says she hopes to finish writing book nine by the end of 2018. Time is ticking! I hope I get to add this one to my 2019 list.
Speaking of 2019 – I, again, couldn’t have read 50 books this year without your encouragement and suggestions. I may shoot for 52 in 2019, just to up the ante a little bit. Though I still have a short list of your recommendations from this year, I always welcome more. Let me know what you’re reading and loving these days!
